Freshwater Creek Steiner School

Playgroup and Stepping Stones

"The sun above is bright
It wakes us with its light,
Shining from above,
To fill our hearts with warmth and love."

Playgroups are held each week and provide a warm and welcoming space for carers and children. Two playgroups are offered and cater for children up to 5yo. Both playgroups flow to a gentle rhythm that incorporates kneading dough for honey buns, craft, indoor and outdoor free-play, singing, storytelling and fingerplays, and a shared morning tea and lunch (depending on the length of the session).

We celebrate each new season with a Festival, to which Playgroup families are warmly welcomed.

'Stepping Stones' (for 3+yo) offers a longer session and is run as a Rostered Playgroup, enabling parents to leave their child if they are ready, in the care of Playgroup Leader Kelli and rostered parents.  This provides an opportunity for the child to experience more independence in a nurturing environment, in preparation for kindergarten.  Of course, parents may stay with their child for the duration of the session if they wish.

2017 Sessions are as follows:
Thursday - 9-11am (Gnarri Kinder room)
Friday  9-11am (Gnarri Kinder room)

Stepping Stones:
Wednesday 9am-12pm (Sheoak Kinder room)
Thursday 11.30am-2.30pm (Gnarri Kinder room)
Friday 11.30am-2.30pm (Gnarri Kinder room)

Playgroups are held in the Early Childhood area of the school.  This provides a sense of continuity and comfort for the children as they transition to Kindergarten - it also means lovely established gardens in which to play, a large indoor space and fully equipped kitchen.
